Happy Valentines Day!!!!
Over last weekend I ran a Valentines promotion called “Send Me Your Love”! Well, just to let you know, I did receive quite a lot of love! The best part of being the recipient of all of your photographs was what you had to say about them. Every single photograph that I received had such a heartfelt sentiment behind it that sometimes I even got a little teary. I hope you’ll agree when you see these photographs.
EVERY SINGLE one of these images were fantastic and amazing. Each image had a wonderful story and was an amazing capture. A panel of photography peers had the job of reviewing all of the images and choosing 3. They ended up choosing 4 because there was a tie. These are the ones selcted.
I will leave choosing the winner up to you. In the comments area below the photograph please leave a comment to which number you are choosing. Please choose only one.
These contestants were to pick out an image and tell me a little bit about why they chose this image and what it means to them. So when you vote, take into consideration the image but also consider the story behind the image.
The finalists will be announced here on the blog on Thursday February 16th at 10am (ish!) Good luck to everyone.
The prizes for this contest are:
The top 4 – (these guys right here) (I had to choose 4 instead of 3 since there was a tie), will each receive a gift certificate for a COMPLIMENTARY SESSION.
The FIRST PLACE WINNER receives, A complimentary session, an 8×10 gift print and a ONE HUNDRED DOLLAR PRINT CREDIT, a value of $280.00!
So with no further ado. Here are the 3 finalists. ***drum roll please***
1.
My shot is of my daughter Amelia, the person responsible for stealing my heart almost two years ago. I love this picture because I think it captures Amelia’s spunky personality and sense of adventure. Every time I see this photo my heart smiles and I remember how much fun we had that day as a family chasing each other and having fun.

Valentine’s Day to me is a bittersweet day but I love it all the same and am so thankful I have these two cuties to get me through. I love-love-love my husband, Ash, and my sweet daughter, Sophie, who are the stars in this photo and in my life. This photo was taken in February 2011, when Sophie was just over a month old. Sophie was such a peanut, born at only 4 lbs-14 oz. She was so delicate when we brought her home, not as much for her size but more so for spending 10 days in the NICU. 24 hours after we brought our baby girl into the world she suffered a seizure of which we later learned was caused by 2 strokes. Words cannot describe the feeling you get when you hear the word stroke but the wonderful Doctors & Nurses at Fletcher Allen reassured us that babies are resilient and their brains can do amazing things. And here we are a year later with our healthy, beautiful Sophie who has just celebrated her 1st birthday. We can’t wait to shower her with kisses on her first Valentine’s Day!
And on this Valentine’s Day, my heart will not only be swollen for my love for Sophie but also for my wonderful mother who we lost 5 years ago on Valentine’s Day to cancer. It was February 14, 2007 and New England was blanketed in snow from the Valentine’s Day snowstorm. My Mom loved the snow therefore it was a poignant day for her to leave us with the comfort of a snow covered landscape. Every year my sister and I celebrate her life by hitting the slopes and I can’t wait for the Valentine’s Day when Sophie can join us. They share the same spirit, tenacity and sparkling blue eyes.
This photo to me, a month after Sophie’s ordeal, exemplifies a face in Ash that is happy & free of worry; a peace & calm in Sophie and a trust in her father, who’s arms she’s cradled in; and is a physical representation of what a peanut she was. This photo to me is one we’ll look back at a long time from now thinking how could she have ever been that small and delicate.
3.
I choose this photo of my son Greyson who is the greatest love of my life. I truly believe that you do not know what absolute love is until that baby is placed in your arms. Your heart grows until it bursts! It is comparable to the best Christmas present you have ever received. You cannot believe they are yours and all you want to do is look at them. This photo is one of my favorites of him. I find myself looking at this photo all the time…just like I did him the day he was born. He looks content and wise beyond his years. He is probably thinking up the next great thing to get into.

4.
Unfortunately, I cannot explain or even fairly describe in words my love for my little guy. The love a mother has for her baby is so great that even the strongest or endearing phrases can never touch the actual feeling that resides in my heart.
This picture is my favorite picture of my little one and me.
Bryce was born to us on June 22, 2011. He seemed to be a healthy and normal little guy when he arrived, however, the next few hours and weeks proved a little different. The night of his birth he was taken to the NICU, after the nurses thought that his color wasn’t normal. That night Bryce had three seizures and the doctors had labeled him in critical condition. Through a series of testings they proved that Bryce had two severe strokes at some point before he had been delivered. The next two weeks were hard but our little guy overcame it all! I strongly believe that our love gave Bryce the strength to overcome such grave odds.
This picture was taken through the NICU window by my sister. At the time he was in a medicated coma to control the seizures. Even though this picture was taken at a time that was unpleasant, it still shows and depicts how much he means to me and how much I love that little guy. I hope you enjoy.
